Sourdough Saturdays
Country sourdough and seeded rye come out of the oven every Saturday at 8 am.
Celebration cakes need 48 hours' notice — order by Thursday for a Saturday pickup.
Why people queue on Saturdays
Naturally leavened
A 48-hour sourdough, and no commercial yeast in the bread.
Out of the oven by 8am
Pickup orders are packed while they are still warm.
Cakes boxed to give
Every cake leaves in a box with a card, ready to hand over.
Two ovens and an early alarm

ABC Bakery is two ovens, one long table and a 4 a.m. alarm. We opened on Ossington because it's the street we walked every morning looking for a proper loaf.
Our sourdough gets two days: mixed on one, shaped and baked on the next. Pastries are laminated by hand twice a week, and cakes are made to order, so the one you pick up was never in a display case.
When something sells out, it's because we baked what we could do well that day.

Questions
Can I order a cake for tomorrow?
Cakes need two days' notice. Pastries and bread can be reserved for the next morning.
Do you have gluten-free bread?
Not yet — everything is baked in the same small room with wheat flour.
Can I freeze the sourdough?
Yes. Slice it first, freeze it in a bag, and toast straight from frozen.
